My 3.5 has a fear of spiders?

Does anyone know how to get a 3.5 year old over the fear of spiders? He has mysteriously developed this fear and has nightmares to the point I have to carry him around because he's scared to put his feet on the ground on the ground. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
